Principal's Message

Welcome Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members,

As your new Principal, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our 2013 - 2014 school year.  I am proud of our teachers and staff members for their years of dedication to this school and our custodial team for
maintaining our campus beautiful.  We have supportive partnerships who provide our students and parents with opportunities to strengthen their commitment to excellence.  I am proud to be your instructional leader and a Falcon.
There has been some positive changes in our Falcon family.  Ms. Welsh, Assistant Principal has been promoted to Principal of Sutter Middle School.  We wish her great success.  We welcome Mr. Rene Fuentes who will be teaching our students computer.  Most importantly, we welcome our new 6th graders, Class of 2016 Falcons to our family.
We will begin the program Breakfast in the Classroom November 6th and at that time their will be a change to our bell schedule.  We are starting our school year with a Block schedule.  That means that our students will have 80 minutes of instructional minutes throughout the day.  There will be an A Day - Period 1, 3, 5,7 and a B Day - Period 2, 4, 6, 8.  All students will be involve in our intervention program throughout the day.  6th and 7th graders will have intervention during their I&E period and 8th graders will have intervention after school from 3:35 p.m. to 4:35 p.m.  Our Back to School Night will take place in August.
We at San Fernando Middle School have HIGH EXPECTATIONS for our teachers and students.  We never lower our expectations.  Our aim is to have our student's excel academically, socially, and physically in an inviting healthy environment.  Our high expectations address the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional needs of all our students in a rigorous, challenging, and engaging academic program.
Middle School can be scary and trying time in our students life.  Parents, rest assured that the Falcon family welcomes and treats everyone with respect at all times.  We are a NO BULLY SCHOOL.  Parents, attendance is very important so make sure your child comes to school everyday on time by 8:20 a.m. and is never absent.
Thank you and I look forward to meeting all my parents.  I also look forward for many parents to come and volunteer at our school and attend workshops in our new Parent Center.  Thank you and lets have a great school year.
